Fighting terrorism with terror, is it a right strategy?

Terrorism has become the hottest and sought after subject in the present times. According to Webster dictionary, terrorism means “the systematic use of terror (imposing fear), especially as a means of coercion.” Although this is the dictionary implication of terrorism yet there is no single definition of this term which has been agreed upon the international community on the whole. Generally, terrorism is perceived of as an act which is intended to create terror among the masses. All the countries including the USA have been making massive efforts in order to control acts of terror. However, in purist of putting an end to terrorism, we see sometimes the super powers using terror.

The question which is in the minds of most people is that whether is it useful or any good to avert terrorism with something of the same nature? If so, how far we have been successful using the strategy of treating terrorism with terror? These are all the question which pinch the world.

The thing to ponder upon is that had this strategy been successful, terrorism would have been controlled to a considerable extent. However, this is not the case. The notion of “War against Terror” is becoming more widespread day by day as there seems to be no stopping the terrorists and their activities. In this situation, the international world which has taken the responsibility of averting terrorism needs to reconsider their strategies. They need to see to all the facts and consider as to which they have not been successful in their mission against terrorism. They also have to evaluate the definition of terrorism and analyze why they have not been able to take considerable control over the situation.

As a matter of fact, the international authorities need to make a paradigm shift as this will allow them to see to the other side of the picture as well. They need to see if there are some motives behind the acts of terrors or are they merely acts of terror to scare people with no other motive. If there are some clear motives of all those who are involved in such activities, then we cannot call these activities as mere terrorism.

Nonetheless, it is only the revision of the strategies to combating terrorism which can provide practical results of the international world regardless of whatever the intention of the terrorist is. Merely retaliating terrorism with terror will not help to control the situation as it has proved so far. An in-depth analysis is required. Only after this, some practical solutions can be implemented to control terrorism.

I agree with the author.. Terror can not be stopped by terror.
we have seen that this strategy has been proven a failed one.
we must find out the reason of terror and should go to eliminate these reasons.
